FAQ

Questions, answered.

How is YouTube engagement rate calculated?
Engagement rate is the sum of a channel's average likes and comments across recent videos, divided by their subscriber count, expressed as a percentage. Starbuzz.ai looks at a creator's recent public videos to compute an average engagement rate, so you get a current, representative number — not a stale lifetime average.
What is a good YouTube engagement rate in 2026?
It depends on subscriber tier. Healthy ranges: nano (<10K) 5–8%, micro (10–50K) 3–5%, mid (50–500K) 1.5–3%, macro (500K–1M) 1–2%, mega (1M+) 0.5–1.5%. A 2% engagement rate on a 50K channel is excellent; the same on a 2M channel is average. Always compare a creator to their tier, not to a flat benchmark.
Does this tool work for private YouTube channels?
No. The checker only analyses publicly available channel and video data. Private or unlisted channels cannot be measured because their video data is not accessible.
How accurate is this engagement rate checker?
We pull real-time public video data and compute the engagement rate from actual views, likes, and comments, not estimates. If you need deeper analysis — audience demographics, authenticity score, bot detection — upgrade to the full Starbuzz.ai creator report.
Can I check Instagram engagement rate too?
Yes. Starbuzz.ai also runs a free Instagram Engagement Rate Checker. The full platform covers both Instagram and YouTube with authenticity analysis and campaign ROI reporting.
Is this tool really free?
Yes. No signup, no credit card, no rate limits for normal human use. You can check as many channels as you need. For bulk checks, programmatic access, or deeper analytics, use the Starbuzz.ai platform.
